Back in 2004, Tata Teleservices had launched Tata Indicom as their only mobile service provider. It grew popularity because of its cheap call rates and better connectivity. Even I had one such SIM. Later in 2008, NTT DoCoMo of Japan formed a partnership with Tata Teleservices to form Tata DoCoMo. It grew more popular than Indicom. In 2014, NTT DoCoMo exited and sold their 100% stakes to Tata Teleservices. Till then, both Tata Indicom and Tata Docomo existed. But later Tata Teleservices decided to migrate all Indicom customers and focus on Tata DoCoMo. The migration was smooth and people got to see Tata DoCoMo instead of Indicom as the signal name.
